The island of Gozo is a little-known Mediterranean wonder that is home to one of our most popular family adventures. Just half an hour from Malta by ferry, it showcases an extraordinary natural environment ideal for an activity-filled week away. We have made the most of our local connections and expertise to find the very best locations and activities in and around the island. With group sizes of no more than 24, you will enjoy a highly personalised experience.
All activities are included in the holiday price. You’ll have a guided boat trip around the picturesque coast, with the chance to go snorkelling and diving at some of the top scuba sites in Europe. The Gozitan cliffs offer excellent spots for rock climbing, while its many inlets are perfect for kayaking, both of which will be on the agenda during your stay.
Based in the northeastern village of Xaghra, you will be close to the UNESCO World Heritage Site of the Ġgantija Temples, which at 5500 years old are amongst the world’s oldest freestanding structures. Gozo has been occupied by everyone from the Ancient Romans and the Arabs to the French and the British, with evidence of this rich history very much present in its lifestyle, language, and cuisine. The week will be filled with opportunities to learn more about the local way of life first-hand and tasting island delicacies. This makes it ideal for families looking for that perfect mix of activities and culture.
Based at the rustic and welcoming Cornucopia Hotel, you will be within easy walking distance of the main town and will be able to make use of the hotel’s facilities, including its sun-soaked terrace and swimming pool.
Upon arrival at the airport, you will be transferred to your accommodation (it takes approximately two hours with a 25-minute ferry crossing between Malta and Gozo). After you are settled into the charming Cornucopia Hotel, a guide will ensure you are fully informed about the week ahead, providing details on activities and equipment and answering any questions you may have about the local region. A welcome dinner will then be served at the hotel restaurant.
Included Meals: DinnerA full day of aquatic action lies ahead! You will begin with a guided boat tour to familiarise you with the splendid coastlines and awe-inspiring cliff formations of Gozo and its smaller neighbour, Comino. This tiny island is virtually uninhabited and is populated with an array of wildlife as well as being home to the famed blue lagoon – an idyllic bay with aquamarine waters and white sand. There will be multiple stops for swimming and snorkelling (please bring your own snorkelling gear), with a picnic lunch served on board.
The vantage point of the boat allows you to appreciate the ancient beauty of the island, taking in its secluded bays and rugged coastline. This is a wonderful start to your family adventure.
Please note: snorkelling gear is not provided!
Included Meals: Breakfast, LunchToday is designed to give you an insight into Gozo, its people and its traditions. At the heart of the culture lies a very healthy enjoyment of delicious food. We don’t like to give too much away about what today includes, as it is a real treat, but you will most certainly learn about what the locals like to eat and how to cook it. Of course, lunch is included today.
Included Meals: Breakfast, LunchDiscover Scuba Dive (or Try Dive) is an ideal introduction to the world under the sea. You will begin with registration (you will be issued with some paperwork prior to going on holiday you will need to complete). You will then be provided with the full equipment necessary and begin the short course in the classroom to introduce this fantastic activity. A full safety briefing will be given along with plenty of time for questions and answers. The day starts with a practice dive to get you used to the equipment and sensations and then a second dive where hopefully you will encounter some of the wonderful marine life. Lunch will be served after the diving.
Please note: for safety reasons, those aged 8 and 9 will be offered the chance to try a 'Bubble Maker' session. They can experience a shallow dive in pool-like conditions and a second dive up to 2m in a very calm area with no boats. Parents can join their children on this dive as long as they stick to a 2m depth. Those under the age of 8 years old will have the opportunity to snorkel on the surface of the water and view the same vibrant marine life as the other members of the group. For children 8 years and over participation in any dive will be at the guide's discretion.
Included Meals: Breakfast, LunchToday has been left free for you to set your own agenda. Relax by the pool and enjoy the sunshine, head to the beach, take a day trip to Valletta (Malta’s capital) or unwind in a spa. It is entirely up to you. Those wanting to absorb more island culture can wander around the town of Xaghra with its rustic stone buildings and delightful shops selling locally made goods.
An inexpensive hop-on, hop-off bus service can get you quickly around the island should you wish to travel further, taking in more of the island's natural beauty and historic delights. We can also look at arranging E-bike hire on request, please ask one of our Travel Experts.
Included Meals: BreakfastToday families will take part in the activity of rock climbing with our local instructors. Amazing Mediterranean vistas await you as well as exciting climbing routes. Once you have reached the top you will be rewarded with wonderful views.
After the tour, enjoy the rest of the afternoon swimming, snorkelling (equipment not provided) and relaxing independently at a nearby beach. You can have lunch at a local snack bar (not provided), before meeting your transfer back to the hotel or, if you would prefer to return straight to the hotel, that can also be arranged.
This evening, a sizzling BBQ will be prepared for you and your family to enjoy at the hotel.
Included Meals: Breakfast, DinnerGozo’s coastline is irresistible, and once more you will be back out on the water, kayaking on the stunning waters. Following your guide along the coast, you will paddle your ‘sit on top’ kayaks for around two and a half hours with two to three people (children under the age of ten will typically travel with two adults) per craft.
After your exciting morning, the group can enjoy the local beach for some free time to explore and relax. You can spend the afternoon enjoying the beach, swimming, and snorkelling (equipment not provided) and the cooling Mediterranean Sea.
Lunch is not included but there are delicious café options at the beach.
Included Meals: BreakfastAirport transfers will be arranged depending on your individual flight plans and breakfast will be included at the hotel. If you are tempted to stay on for another week, please speak to our Family Travel Experts.
Included Meals: BreakfastCornucopia Hotel is a locally-owned farmhouse which had been converted and extended to serve as a rustic and welcoming base for your time exploring this remarkable island. The hotel is less than 15 minutes’ walk to the traditional village square of Xaghra where families can make use of the selection of restaurants and small shops.
Decorated in traditional Gozitan style from the limestone walls to the arched restaurant, it has a traditional feel and a wonderfully relaxed atmosphere.
There are 20 standard rooms in total, decorated in a simple rustic style and offering either a pool or valley view. All rooms have a balcony or terrace, en-suite bathroom, minibar, TV, hairdryer and air-conditioning.
Located across the very quiet road from the main hotel building, the Cornucopia also offers a small number of bungalows which families can pay a supplement if they would like to opt for a larger accommodation. These offer the chance for a bit more space and privacy, whilst still being within a few short steps from the hotel and its amenities. Very comfortable and traditionally decorated, they are popular amongst families on our Gozo trip.
Each offers wonderful views across the valley and consists of a main dining area, kitchen and between one and three bedrooms (they can accommodate families of varying sizes). The bungalows also have the advantage of a communal swimming pool and terrace for guests and are in an ideal spot for you to relax and enjoy the sunshine after a day’s adventure. All of the bungalows are equipped with air-conditioning for guests’ comfort.

Sat on the outskirts of the village and built on the island’s highest point, the hotel offers stunning views of the islands of Malta and Comino. Over 100 hectares of nature surround the hotel, offering a fantastic opportunity for families to explore the area and enjoy the local nature.
The hotel is a hideaway resort known for its comfort, family-friendly service, welcoming staff and bustling Gozitan atmosphere. General use of the pool is included for the whole stay for both adults and children, so the kids can have a splash about while parents relax by the poolside. Minimum 4 persons, maximum 24 persons (approximately)
We always try to provide an approximation of the group size you can expect to be with for the duration of each of our holidays. It may be that you are joined by others for parts of your holiday (such as transfers and particular activities) but the above number reflects those you can normally expect to be with from beginning to end. If group size is something which is particularly important to you, please speak to our Travel Experts and they can suggest the best holidays for you.
Tailor-made holiday group sizes will vary for all activities as will the group size for any additional activities you book.
Some of our holidays require a minimum number of participants to operate (as listed in the ‘Group Size’ section). If your holiday departure has not yet reached the minimum number, you will be told at the time of booking. In the unlikely event that your chosen date is not guaranteed by nine weeks before your scheduled departure date, we will contact you to discuss the available options as per our booking conditions.
The minimum age for this holiday can be found in the ‘Key Facts’ section of the holiday overview.
Younger family members may be able to participate but may not be able to take part in all activities. Please contact one of our Travel Experts if you have any questions.
The order of activities listed in this agenda is provided for guidance only, your final and detailed itinerary will be provided either with your final travel documents (which are uploaded into your online account around a week prior to departure) or upon arrival.
We want our holidays to be accessible as they can be and will do our best to accommodate any special requests and requirements where possible. We have a wide range of holidays and destinations and so our travel experts will help find the best holiday for you.
In order to give us the best possible chance to do this we ask that if you or any member of your party has any medical condition or disability which may affect your holiday or has any special requirements, that you tell us at the time of enquiry or booking. You must also promptly advise us if any medical condition or disability which may affect your holiday develops after your booking has been confirmed. You may need to provide a doctor’s note and proof of insurance in some cases as the health and safety of our clients is absolutely paramount.
In providing this information you are allowing us to work with our expert local partners to ensure that your whole party can enjoy the holiday. By letting us know in advance we can discreetly work with you to adapt any part of the holiday which may potentially be challenging. Being able to prepare for this in advance makes an incredible difference to what we can offer and minimises any impact on your party and the rest of the group.
Unfortunately, if you choose not to share this information with us in advance then it may limit some or all of the itinerary you have booked, and we cannot be held accountable for any additional costs or missed activities resulting from this.
It is vitally important that you advise us prior to departure of any medical or dietary condition relating to any member of your party so that we may notify our local staff before you arrive. We recommend only drinking bottled water from bottles with unbroken seals and be vigilant about the use of ice in drinks and ice cream.
Insurance is not included in your holiday, but it is a pre-requisite to travelling with us. You will need to ensure that you have cover for all the activities that you will be participating in during your holiday.
It is extremely important that you take out a suitable travel insurance policy at the time of booking. Plans do sometimes change, and you will need this policy should you need to cancel your holiday.
If you are struggling to find a suitable policy then details of our preferred provider, who will cover you for all the activities we offer, can be found on our website by clicking here. Please note that this policy is available to EU residents under the age of 75 only.
Our clients’ safety is at the centre of everything we do, and our operations team continually assesses and monitors the destinations we feature. We carry out thorough risk assessments and work closely with all of our suppliers to continually follow best practice. For up to date travel advice the UK government offers its Travel Aware website as well as the advice detailed below.
The Foreign and Commonwealth Office Advice
We receive all updates from the Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) with regards to travel advice and we always ensure that we follow this advice in our operations. The FCO issues travel advisories for countries based on a very wide range of factors. They may provide notification about things as simple as a football match and crowds, or they may go so far as to advise against all travel to a region. We ask all our clients to refer to the relevant Travel Advice by Country for the destinations they are visiting in order to make an informed decision on the safety of the destination based on the details provided. It also provides vital information regarding entry requirements, embassy information, local laws and customs as well as specific safety and health. Guests should take responsibility for keeping themselves up to date with this advice. Please also ensure that, if you are transiting through another country, you have read the advice and meet the entry requirements for that destination too.
The FCO travel advice is applicable to British Passport Holders. Most governments will issue their own travel advice for a region and, if you are not a UK resident then you can find some helpful links below:
Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade http://www.smartraveller.gov.au/
New Zealand Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade http://www.safetravel.govt.nz/
Canadian Consular Affairs Bureau http://voyage.gc.ca/
The U.S. Bureau of Consular Affairs http://travel.state.gov/content/travel/english.html
If the FCO deems that there is an unacceptable level of risk for UK citizens then, together with the government, they may issue an advisory against all travel to a region or country. If such an advisory is published, then we will act accordingly, and this may require the cancellation, curtailment or amendment of a holiday itinerary. These decisions are made on the basis of ensuring our clients’ safety and will affect all clients on the holiday, regardless of their nationality.
If one of our local experts suggests an amendment due to a situation which develops locally then we may also take the decision to amend an itinerary appropriately.
If we have to cancel your holiday prior to departure you will be offered the option of an alternative trip (where any price difference will either be refunded to or covered by you) or a full refund of the monies paid.
If we have to curtail a holiday, then you will be refunded for any costs for the elements we have been unable to deliver, where we have been able to secure a refund from our suppliers. If we must reroute a holiday, then any basis for refund is determined on a case by case basis and dependent on whether the central holiday experience was provided or not.
Additional activities can be booked locally in almost all our destinations. However, as per our booking conditions, we cannot be held responsible for any injury or loss incurred through participation in activities which are booked at your destination outside of our holiday itinerary (see our ‘Terms and Conditions’ for further details).
When arranging any such activity please always ensure that safety is your primary concern.
In some of our destinations, you can borrow or hire equipment for use in your free time. You do so entirely at your own risk. You must ensure that you are correctly prepared, have the necessary equipment and knowledge (maps, etc.) and ensure that where applicable, you follow marked routes. We recommend discussing your plans with the local teams who will be able to advise on the most suitable options for you.
Always let the reception/guide know where you are planning to go and take a torch and mobile phone (with the hotel/guide’s phone number stored). It is also a good idea to leave your contact number and the time you expect to return to the hotel should the hotel need to contact you.
On your documentation, we will confirm your flight schedule. Sometimes the flight number, routing and timings might change prior to your departure. If the change is classed as a significant change then we will contact you to discuss this. Please see our booking conditions for details.
Flight schedule changes can impact on your pre and post-holiday travel arrangements if these have been booked separately to your holiday. We strongly recommend that you do not book transport (such as trains or transfers), car parking or non-connecting flights to the departure point for your holiday until you have received your final confirmed travel times when your final travel documents are issued. We are not responsible for the effect of any schedule change on your pre or post travel arrangements. We strongly recommend that you do not purchase non-flexible or non-refundable tickets to avoid cancellation and penalty charges.
If you have chosen to book your own flights, then you will need to wait until we confirm to you that the holiday departure has met the minimum numbers required to run (if applicable to your chosen holiday). Once the holiday is guaranteed to run, you will be informed and you can then make your arrangements.
If transfers are included in your holiday, please ensure that any potential flights will be met by our standard transfers (speak to one of our Travel Experts for advice) otherwise private transfer supplements may be applicable. Once your flights are booked, please send us a copy of your detailed flight itinerary.
Please be aware that most tickets are non-refundable in the case of cancellation. For this reason, we strongly advise you check the rules of the ticket and check the limitations of your cancellation insurance before booking. We cannot be held liable, in the unlikely eventuality that we should be forced to cancel or amend your trip, for losses incurred relating to any flight booking you have made.
Discover Scuba Diving diving is included in July and August. For safety reasons, those under the age of 10 years old will have the opportunity to snorkel on the surface of the water and view the same vibrant marine life as the other members of the group. For children 10 years and over participation in the diving will be at the guide's discretion.
Our full booking terms and conditions can be found on our website: https://www.activitiesabroad.com/booking-conditions
Please note: our payment and cancellation terms will be unique to each booking – they will be confirmed with you at the time of quotation. The terms listed above are noted as a guide only
Please note that the following cancellation terms supersede in part those mentioned in Section 7 of our general booking terms and conditions.

Our family of five has just returned from a truly excellent, exciting and varied holiday on Gozo with Activities Abroad. We loved the hotel 'Cornucopia', and especially our bungalow as it gave us a little more privacy and space. Facilities were excellent, staff were lovely and we ate well all week (very important with three boys). Our group activities included kayaking, snorkelling and swimming,…

Gozo is the friendliest place I have ever visited, from the local taxi drivers to the staff in restaurants to all the guides we met.
All of it was fantastic. Could not have been better. The holiday provides a great combination of activities and is so well organised. It is relaxing given that everything is organised so smoothly, but active as the family are out doing things each day - perfect. Our children loved it all, especially the lazy boat day. Great family holiday. All activities are suitable for beginners but easily…

enjoyable for more experienced members of the group. The guides will tailor things to your ability. We had a great but small group and it worked really well. Excellent - would highly recommend the holiday. Activities Abroad really knew the holiday so helped with our questions beforehand. The local hosts are English and French and know Gozo inside out and are extremely well organised and helpful.

We were split between the Lazy Boat Day and the Paddle Boarding that we did on our free day. Both were such good fun and we felt really well looked after. We all loved the Eco Day, the climbing, the snorkelling, Mini B diving and the Kayaking too. So difficult to choose a favourite.
My children enjoyed the snorkelling best of all. The instructors were great and the location was beautiful. The boat day was great too.
Thank you to Cornil for making us feel safe and being a contact at any time for anything. Thank you to Michael for kayaking, Albert on the boat for being discreet, Alice for looking after Iona when she was stung by a jellyfish and for taking some pictures of us when our gopro died and Dee-dee for encouraging Patrick when climbing. We will be back!
The sea kayaking was fun, great guides and a brilliant way to explore.
Just want to thank you for such a great holiday. It is the first time I have booked an activity holiday for my children and taking them on my own I was quite nervous but it was absolutely brilliant. Please let Cornil know he does the greatest job providing the most enjoyable time! Personally, I enjoyed the lazy boat day the most but all the activities were great. I still can't believe…

We had a wonderful holiday in Gozo and the whole experience, from initial booking onwards, went so smoothly. Activities Abroad went out of their way to answer all queries we had, and to resolve any issues that cropped up. Once we arrived in Gozo, Cornil and his team could not have done more to make our holiday so perfect for us, making sure that every day and evening was full of fun and tailored…

I wanted to say thank you for yet another fantastic holiday with you. We loved it. True to form of your company (you do seem to choose such fantastic people in each country to run your holidays), Cornil went out of his way to put things right for us and made our holiday special. He has such a great heart for the job. Well done. May I suggest discussions of perhaps having Segways as an…

activity in your program. ? We did this during our extended stay which Cornil so kindly helped us to arrange and it was great and very achievable thing to do. We also had a great half day with Mark (who assisted Cornil on the Eco day). We went on a tour with him on our last day to so many different parts of the island. Mark has such a great passion and knowledge of the island, (and is) fantastic with the children too. I will now be saving up for next year and look forward to seeing what other holidays you offer. Thanks again for another great holiday.

This was a thoroughly enjoyable holiday that worked really well for our family with 2 teenagers. The activities were varied and long enough. Cornil and his team were excellent - pleasant, helpful, efficient - and really made us feel as if we weren't the umpteenth group that they had ever dealt with. Admin and service your end was also excellent and very personal. Definitely one of our best…

Cornil and Mark were great local reps. Their knowledge and enthusiasm were wonderful. (Most enjoyable activity): Dawn - Sea Kayaking. It was amazing to be able to zig zag along the shore getting through tiny gaps then out into the deeper water; Richard - lazy boat day and diving - it was great to be able to swim then laze with a private boat, also conquered fears with diving; Annabelle - lazy boat…

Fantastic holiday. Activity suppliers on Gozo were amazing. All very happy! Diving... sea kayaking...rock climbing. Very satisfied and happy.
Extremely knowledgeable local representatives, very well organised transfers and activities. Superb accommodation, lovely food - and plenty of it! Sea kayaking was the most popular (activity) across the board, helped greatly by the fantastic guide, Sandra who deftly repaired a dodgy rudder armed with cable ties and gaffer tape! All the other activities were great too. The individual guides and…

Cornil was an excellent guide both on our eco day and in fact generally an all round really helpful chap. He sorted out our car hire for us and ensured that any queries we had were dealt with promptly. We had a great holiday and are already looking to book another one with you for next year.
We are back home now after having a fantastic holiday. We had a brilliant 2 weeks. We were very impressed with the organisation and the activities, everything ran smoothly and Cornil and his team couldn’t do enough for us. The hotel was lovely, staff really friendly and helpful. Gozo is a lovely island and we hope to return again soon.
We had a fun packed holiday, meeting other families of like minds. As a team we were encouraged and challenged to join in activities we would otherwise shy away from. The island had a great atmosphere, full of festivities around the island celebrating Saints days and life!
I thought the email documentation was very thorough. I would have liked some information on which hotel we were staying at proportion to booking. Generally the admin was excellent. The hotel room offered lots of space for our family and it was a very pretty hotel. Gozo Adventures were outstanding. Cornil organised all our activities extremely well including transport to and from. He has a very…

good team. The Lazy day boat trip and snorkelling was an excellent introduction. We very much enjoyed all the activities made special by the Gozo Adventures team, in particular, Mark who was great with our boys. The final Eco day was a real treat and we felt we had some insight into Gozo that most other tourists would not get.It was a shame we were the only family booked on the holiday for the week we went as we were hoping to have some company for our teens. This has been our best family holiday, no question. We had such fun, faced stiff challenges, relaxed and completely fell in love with Gozo. The activity staff were terrific - Mark, Sebastian, Steve and Xavier all worked really hard to show us the very best of the island. We felt completely privileged to see the island this way - not the mass produced way!
Given that this is a new addition to your holidays, I'm sure it will soon become a favourite. The location is perfect. There is a great range of local eating/drinking places within easy walking distance, and it’s safe enough for the teens to be able to go out and eat on their own (which they did).
