Croatia is a country blessed by both natural and manmade beauty and this holiday makes the absolute most of Croatia’s natural environment. You’ll enjoy white-water rafting, sea kayaking, canyoning, blue lagoon boat trip and exploring the stunning Krka National Park, all from your superb base close to the towns of Trogir and Split.
From lagoons to rivers, you’ll see it all! The country is a true gem of the Dalmatian coast, with the sapphire beaches and emerald forests which form its coastline simply crying out to be explored. With this abundance of natural beauty, delicious cuisine, and a thriving adventure sports industry, it is the perfect place for you and your family to enjoy a coast and country activity week together.
We’ve based this 7-night active family adventure on the outskirts of the small and beautiful town of Trogir. You’ll see the fabulous coastline and spend lots of time actively exploring rivers, canyons, and national parks. There’s a visit to the Krka National Park with a short walking tour through the park, rafting on the beautiful Cetina River, sea kayaking around Split, canyoning through the Cetina River’s spectacular steep-sided canyons and a relaxed visit to the Blue Lagoon by boat.
Although it has been designated as a UNESCO heritage site, the beautiful town of Trogir is lesser known in tourist circles. Your hotel is only a short taxi ride away from the Old Town, with plenty of restaurants, cafes, and shops to enjoy in amongst the beautiful Romanesque and Renaissance architecture. Furthermore, with a pool in the back garden of your hotel and a popular pebble beach a mere 200m away, you’ll have the perfect place to relax and unwind between your adventures.
We can’t think of a better way to explore the very best of Croatia’s coast and country than on a multi-activity holiday. You’ll be safe under the tutelage, guidance, and supervision of qualified guides, so all you have to do is listen and then enjoy.
Upon arrival at Split International Airport, you will be collected and transferred to the comfortable and friendly Hotel Medena on the outskirts of Trogir.
Once you’re all settled in and unpacked, we recommend you enjoy your first dip in the hotel’s pool or take a short walk down to the Medena beach, where there are a handful of cafes and restaurants to dine at. As Croatia’s just as sunny as its Mediterranean counterparts, we are sure you’ll enjoy taking a dip in both in your downtime!
Please note that the order and timings of activities listed within the agenda is subject to change; your final itinerary will be provided to you on arrival. The activities may require an early start in the morning, with transfers to reach the starting points, but the experiences will be well worth it!
Included Meals: NoneFollowing a delicious breakfast, you have a free morning to enjoy at leisure.
At 12.30, your transfer will pick you up ready for the afternoon adveture at Centina River. As well as safety instructions and training on the rules of conduct in the raft, your guide will also provide you with a neoprene suit, a life jacket, a helmet, and a paddle.
You’ll spend an exciting three hours rafting. It’s a lovely river with plenty of excellent views for those relaxing moments when you are not negotiating the rapids.
Lunch is not included today, and we would recommend bringing snacks and water along with you. You will return to your hotel this evening at approximately 19.30
Included Meals: BreakfastToday will take you deep into the beautiful Krka national park.
Following breakfast, a transfer will be waiting for you at 09.30 to take you to the beautiful Krka National Park. The journey to the park is approximately 1.5 hours. On arrival, you will enjoy a walking tour to the beautiful Skradinski Buk waterfall, along forest pathways and wooden bridges, surrounded by diverse flora and fauna.
You will have free time at the waterfall, where you can explore and enjoy a picnic (we recommend bringing your own snacks along, and there is a small café near the waterfall too). After this, you will take a 30-minute boat cruise along the river to the town of Skradin. You will then be driven to the charming coastal town of Primosten, before returning to your hotel ahead of a free evening.
Included Meals: Breakfast
Stock up on a hearty breakfast this morning, ready for the day’s adventures. Today, you and your family will be picked up at 08:00 from your hotel. Today you will experience an amazing series of canyons on a different section of the Cetina River, but one that is just as stunning. With tumbling waterfalls and beautiful emerald pools at their base, it is a fabulous place to explore, and you will be provided with a wetsuit, life jacket and helmet to navigate the canyons under expert supervision. Once you are all suited up and harnessed in, the adventures begin!
To make your way from the top of the canyon to its base, you will slide down natural water tunnels, pass through underground tunnels, and jump into the crystal-clear river pools carved out by thousands of years of running water. There’s nothing like floating in softly ebbing pools to take a moment’s breather and appreciate the stunning surroundings you find yourself in.
After a transfer back to your hotel, the afternoon is free to spend as you wish.
Included Meals: BreakfastThis morning is filled with water-based fun for all of you and your family. Again following breakfast, your transfer will collect you at 08:00 for a morning of kayaking in Split. Paddle around Marjan Hill, where you can enjoy the backdrop of mountains and islands that surround this beautiful part of the world.
Your expert guide will lead the way and you will make a stop to enjoy a secluded beach and try your hand at snorkelling in the crystal-clear waters. You will also have the opportunity to try cliff jumping if you're feeling daring! Full guidance and safety instructions will be given before the activity. You will be returned to your hotel after the activity and have the afternoon free to enjoy the pool and beach back at your hotel.
Included Meals: BreakfastThis morning following breakfast, you will be picked up from your hotel at 09.45 for an exciting day exploring Ciovo Island.
A thrilling speedboat ride will take you to the Blue Lagoon which sits between three islands and is home to vivid turquoise waters surrounding Krknjaši, where you can spend the afternoon snorkelling, paddling, or simply admiring some of Croatia’s most astonishing views.
You’ll have around 2 hours free time to enjoy the lagoon, before sailing back to Trogir. You will then be transferred back to your hotel.
Included Meals: Breakfast
Today has been left free for you to do as you please. You could either have a day of rest at the hotel, enjoying the pool and beach, or perhaps take a taxi into Trogir to explore the Old Town and enjoy some fresh, local cuisine.
Included Meals: BreakfastUnfortunately, it’s time for your Croatian adventures to come to an end. Depending on your flight time, you’ll either enjoy breakfast in the restaurant or it will be boxed up to take to the airport. You will then be transferred back to Split International Airport to chat about your memories on the flight home.
Included Meals: BreakfastThe Medena Hotel, a local landmark, has plenty to do for children of all ages. With six tennis courts, football, handball and basketball courts, a mini-golf course, a trim track and even a boccia court, there’s plenty to get the whole family active (and nicely worn out in time for bed)! There’s also an outdoor swimming pool with both children-only and general areas, and a pebble beach two-hundred metres from the hotel.
Decorated in a traditional style, the hotel is 4km from the centre of Trogir. Taxis can easily be arranged at reception, with a journey time of around 10 minutes. There is also a water taxi service, which is often the transport of choice for guests, as it takes 20 minutes one-way and costs approximately 5 euros per person for a return journey; cheaper than by car and a unique way to travel.
The hotel’s restaurant serves buffet food for breakfast, lunch, and dinner and there is a beach grill restaurant, an Aperitif bar, and a pizzeria within two hundred metres of the hotel. The hotel has a small supermarket, selling various travel necessities, as well as drinks, snacks and souvenirs

Minimum 4 persons, maximum 30 persons (approximately)
Please note: this trip requires a minimum of 4 people to run
We always try to provide an approximation of the group size you can expect to be with for the duration of each of our holidays. It may be that you are joined by others for parts of your holiday (such as transfers and particular activities) but the above number reflects those you can normally expect to be with from beginning to end. If group size is something which is particularly important to you, please speak to our Travel Experts and they can suggest the best holidays for you.
Tailor-made holiday group sizes will vary for all activities as will the group size for any additional activities you book.
Some of our holidays require a minimum number of participants to operate (as listed in the ‘Group Size’ section). If your holiday departure has not yet reached the minimum number, you will be told at the time of booking. In the unlikely event that your chosen date is not guaranteed by nine weeks before your scheduled departure date, we will contact you to discuss the available options as per our booking conditions.
The minimum age for this holiday can be found in the ‘Key Facts’ section of the holiday overview.
Younger family members may be able to participate but may not be able to take part in all activities. Please contact one of our Travel Experts if you have any questions.
The order of activities listed in this agenda is provided for guidance only, your final and detailed itinerary will be provided either with your final travel documents (which are uploaded into your online account around a week prior to departure) or upon arrival.
We want our holidays to be accessible as they can be and will do our best to accommodate any special requests and requirements where possible. We have a wide range of holidays and destinations and so our travel experts will help find the best holiday for you.
In order to give us the best possible chance to do this we ask that if you or any member of your party has any medical condition or disability which may affect your holiday or has any special requirements, that you tell us at the time of enquiry or booking. You must also promptly advise us if any medical condition or disability which may affect your holiday develops after your booking has been confirmed. You may need to provide a doctor’s note and proof of insurance in some cases as the health and safety of our clients is absolutely paramount.
In providing this information you are allowing us to work with our expert local partners to ensure that your whole party can enjoy the holiday. By letting us know in advance we can discreetly work with you to adapt any part of the holiday which may potentially be challenging. Being able to prepare for this in advance makes an incredible difference to what we can offer and minimises any impact on your party and the rest of the group.
Unfortunately, if you choose not to share this information with us in advance then it may limit some or all of the itinerary you have booked, and we cannot be held accountable for any additional costs or missed activities resulting from this.
It is vitally important that you advise us prior to departure of any medical or dietary condition relating to any member of your party so that we may notify our local staff before you arrive. We recommend only drinking bottled water from bottles with unbroken seals and be vigilant about the use of ice in drinks and ice cream.
Insurance is not included in your holiday, but it is a pre-requisite to travelling with us. You will need to ensure that you have cover for all the activities that you will be participating in during your holiday.
It is extremely important that you take out a suitable travel insurance policy at the time of booking. Plans do sometimes change, and you will need this policy should you need to cancel your holiday.
If you are struggling to find a suitable policy then details of our preferred provider, who will cover you for all the activities we offer, can be found on our website by clicking here. Please note that this policy is available to EU residents under the age of 75 only.
Our clients’ safety is at the centre of everything we do, and our operations team continually assesses and monitors the destinations we feature. We carry out thorough risk assessments and work closely with all of our suppliers to continually follow best practice. For up to date travel advice the UK government offers its Travel Aware website as well as the advice detailed below.
The Foreign and Commonwealth Office Advice
We receive all updates from the Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) with regards to travel advice and we always ensure that we follow this advice in our operations. The FCO issues travel advisories for countries based on a very wide range of factors. They may provide notification about things as simple as a football match and crowds, or they may go so far as to advise against all travel to a region. We ask all our clients to refer to the relevant Travel Advice by Country for the destinations they are visiting in order to make an informed decision on the safety of the destination based on the details provided. It also provides vital information regarding entry requirements, embassy information, local laws and customs as well as specific safety and health. Guests should take responsibility for keeping themselves up to date with this advice. Please also ensure that, if you are transiting through another country, you have read the advice and meet the entry requirements for that destination too.
The FCO travel advice is applicable to British Passport Holders. Most governments will issue their own travel advice for a region and, if you are not a UK resident then you can find some helpful links below:
Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade http://www.smartraveller.gov.au/
New Zealand Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade http://www.safetravel.govt.nz/
Canadian Consular Affairs Bureau http://voyage.gc.ca/
The U.S. Bureau of Consular Affairs http://travel.state.gov/content/travel/english.html
If the FCO deems that there is an unacceptable level of risk for UK citizens then, together with the government, they may issue an advisory against all travel to a region or country. If such an advisory is published, then we will act accordingly, and this may require the cancellation, curtailment or amendment of a holiday itinerary. These decisions are made on the basis of ensuring our clients’ safety and will affect all clients on the holiday, regardless of their nationality.
If one of our local experts suggests an amendment due to a situation which develops locally then we may also take the decision to amend an itinerary appropriately.
If we have to cancel your holiday prior to departure you will be offered the option of an alternative trip (where any price difference will either be refunded to or covered by you) or a full refund of the monies paid.
If we have to curtail a holiday, then you will be refunded for any costs for the elements we have been unable to deliver, where we have been able to secure a refund from our suppliers. If we must reroute a holiday, then any basis for refund is determined on a case by case basis and dependent on whether the central holiday experience was provided or not.
Additional activities can be booked locally in almost all our destinations. However, as per our booking conditions, we cannot be held responsible for any injury or loss incurred through participation in activities which are booked at your destination outside of our holiday itinerary (see our ‘Terms and Conditions’ for further details).
When arranging any such activity please always ensure that safety is your primary concern.
In some of our destinations, you can borrow or hire equipment for use in your free time. You do so entirely at your own risk. You must ensure that you are correctly prepared, have the necessary equipment and knowledge (maps, etc.) and ensure that where applicable, you follow marked routes. We recommend discussing your plans with the local teams who will be able to advise on the most suitable options for you.
Always let the reception/guide know where you are planning to go and take a torch and mobile phone (with the hotel/guide’s phone number stored). It is also a good idea to leave your contact number and the time you expect to return to the hotel should the hotel need to contact you.
On your documentation, we will confirm your flight schedule. Sometimes the flight number, routing and timings might change prior to your departure. If the change is classed as a significant change then we will contact you to discuss this. Please see our booking conditions for details.
Flight schedule changes can impact on your pre and post-holiday travel arrangements if these have been booked separately to your holiday. We strongly recommend that you do not book transport (such as trains or transfers), car parking or non-connecting flights to the departure point for your holiday until you have received your final confirmed travel times when your final travel documents are issued. We are not responsible for the effect of any schedule change on your pre or post travel arrangements. We strongly recommend that you do not purchase non-flexible or non-refundable tickets to avoid cancellation and penalty charges.
If you have chosen to book your own flights, then you will need to wait until we confirm to you that the holiday departure has met the minimum numbers required to run (if applicable to your chosen holiday). Once the holiday is guaranteed to run, you will be informed and you can then make your arrangements.
If transfers are included in your holiday, please ensure that any potential flights will be met by our standard transfers (speak to one of our Travel Experts for advice) otherwise private transfer supplements may be applicable. Once your flights are booked, please send us a copy of your detailed flight itinerary.
Please be aware that most tickets are non-refundable in the case of cancellation. For this reason, we strongly advise you check the rules of the ticket and check the limitations of your cancellation insurance before booking. We cannot be held liable, in the unlikely eventuality that we should be forced to cancel or amend your trip, for losses incurred relating to any flight booking you have made.
Our full booking terms and conditions can be found on our website: https://www.activitiesabroad.com/booking-conditions
Please note: our payment and cancellation terms will be unique to each booking – they will be confirmed with you at the time of quotation. The terms listed above are noted as a guide only
Please note that the following cancellation terms supersede in part those mentioned in Section 7 of our general booking terms and conditions.
- Up to balance due date (this is normally 16 weeks prior to departure however some holidays differ. If this applies to your holiday you will be advised at the time of booking) - Loss of deposit (including the full cost of flights or other services where paid at the time of booking)

- 91 to 24 days prior to departure – 75%

Fantastic. The guides Vana and Andro made the holiday a huge success, they tried exceptionally hard to meet the needs of all the group. The varied range of activities was good and the guides were able to involve everyone no matter of age or ability. We liked the hiking and rock climbing as the variety was superb. The river kayaking was a close second. Excellent location, great varied trip. Thought…

The local guides were outstanding, Vana and Andro were absolute super stars. They were super organised and professional but also so much fun. They were wonderful with the children. We loved it all but especially the river canoeing, it was in a gorgeous setting and was lots of fun.
Guides were outstanding, Raftrek run an excellent programme. If you are very fit, then you'll enjoy it.
It was one of the best holidays we have had as a family.
Absolutely superb holiday - exactly what we hoping for, and better. Guides/hosts were utterly brilliant. Choice of activities was perfect - thanks.
All family members enjoyed all the activities. Difficult to pick out one! From us 4 - 2 votes for sea kayaking, 1 vote each fro hike and rafting! The sea kayaking was an acivity new to us. It was broken up into managemable chunks with plenty of rest/swimming time. We went for a lovely (and filling!) lunch on the island at the half way mark which was very pleasant. it perhaps wold have been nicer…

to spend a bit more time on the island to have a little look round instead of just eat lunch and then have to leave again. This was the only suggesion I could make as we all thoroughly enjoyed the day. Hiking was good and although a bit difficult in parts due to the heat, but enjoyable nonetheless. One of the highlights was the stop off for swimming in a beautiful natural pool (found thanks to our guides!) on the way up and down the mountain. The pace was just right for all of us and scenery stunning. The rafting was great fun and our guide ("Big Luka" - there are 2 apparently) was fantastic and very funny. The river kayaking was also great and our teenage sons especially enjoyed "going solo" down the 3m waterfall while we looked on in fear/wonder/amazement! The cycling was the hardest activity, definitely due to the intense heat. There were hills to climb which in the UK I'm sure wouldn't be an issue but in 34 degrees were pretty tough. However, our guide, Anna, was fantastic, and we were under no pressure to go faster as we all went at the pace of the slowest member. There was no shame in getting off to walk for periods if necessary. She kept us informed of distances/hills to cover and, importantly, when the swimming stop was coming! It was a long day but fortunately broken up by a 2 hour lunch stop back at the hotel where we could refresh. Definitely worth doing the "hard cycle", ie to monastery in the morning and the easier flat cycle to the waterfall in the afternoon, rather than the other way round as was on our itinerary. The guides obviously know best and what's preferable. We all made it and there was an incredible sense of achievement at the end (albeit lots of aching legs!). This was our second holiday with Activities Abroad. As previously, what made this holiday work so well were the guides. Our two guides, Dommy and Anna were both fantastic. They were fun, friendly, well-informed and good with the kids (even normally monosyllabic teenagers!). They worked long hours and nothing was ever too much trouble for them. Whatever they are earning they deserve a pay rise! This holiday included evening meals at the hotel. Although you may have felt "restricted" by this, there was need. The food was good and it was great to get together with the group in the evening to chat in a relaxed setting (rather than puffing your way up a mountain!). I think our group bonded well and the kids all got on and played cards together most nights. Although many of the activities on this holiday were the same (we did the Spain Pyrenees holiday previously), the holiday was very different and equally as good. The activities are a major part, but we found it's also about the location, scenery, culture and also the different families that form part of your group. If a family is considering doing a further holiday with Activities Abroad but is worried it might be a bit "samey" as they've done something similar before, I would encourage them to go for it as they will get completely new experiences and it's a great way of seeing a different country - from the mountains, roads, river or coastline. Another success - thank you!

They were all enjoyable but from a personal viewpoint I particularly enjoyed the rock climbing.
We had a fantastic holiday. Our guides were excellent, especially Marko, who is a natural leader and was always patiently on hand to answer questions and help out. We have already recommended it to others. Thanks for making the holiday wonderfully active. Completely stress-free too!
This was a fantastic holiday. Graham was so helpful pre-trip and we couldn't believe how beautiful Croatia was.
Our guide was extremely knowledgeable and friendly. It was great that the days were not only filled with activities but also with time for sightseeing.
Just a quick note to say thank you & that we had a fantastic time in Croatia - the holiday was absolutely brilliant - right from the first point of contact with yourself right through until the guides dropped us back off at the airport. We were very impressed and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Both guides were also excellent, but special mention should go to Domi who was fantastic and…

All went smoothly. Great to meet other like minded families and similar aged children. The accommodation was much better than the pictures. The location was great being in the middle of a small village.
We had an amazing holiday due to the people in our group and the guides as well as the activities. Croatia is an awesome country with friendly welcoming people.
