Jeris - Family Winter Cottage Adventure
A review of Jeris Family Winter Cottage Adventure by The Ford FamilyFor me, a busy mum, your holidays are so well organised that they take away the stress of all the pre holiday planning, booking flights, transfers etc., planning activities and of course the thinking about what we are going to eat and where! Which ultimately means that I too get a good stress free holiday!

A brilliant trip!! I don't know how it would have been without such deep snow, because that was the foundation for most of our activities and it made the Whole experience so pleasurable. The staff were welcoming, cheerful, caring and very helpful. We will be back, possibly for Christmas with other family members.

A review of Menesjärvi Half-Term Northern Lights Adventure by The Ford FamilyThe mix of activities really made the holiday. The activity guide at the hotel (James) was really knowledgeable and helpful. One of the highlights of the holiday was seeing the Northern Lights but also to get some good photo memories. The Aurora workshop run by James was extremely helpful. If we hadn't know how to set up the camera we would not have got such good photos.

Our activity guides, James and Rosie, were lovely and really good with the children. Reindeer herding and the spectacular Northern lights display we were lucky enough to see on our last night.

Graham gave me details on how to arrange a taste of downhill skiing for our kids on one of our free days at Olos which worked out perfectly (despite -16 temperature!). Read more meals and activities on a well lit off-road path. The food exceeded our expectations - plentiful, tasty, varied, high quality - and gluten free was not a problem at all as most dishes were already GF and alternatives always available. Our kids enjoyed a lot of the meals but there were standard kid-friendly options available at dinner if needed. We brought some snacks but really didn't need them as the meals were so satisfying. Restaurant and reception staff were friendly and helpful. Special thanks to Rose on reception who came and picked up 3 of us in her car when we got lost following cross country trails! Activities - The activities were superb. By the end of the week we had had many wonderful new experiences, learned some new skills and made memories for life. We had been wary of commercialised Lapland experiences but the activities at Jeris were authentic and very professionally organised. Our guide, Kevin, was delightful - enthusiastic, friendly and knowledgeable. Timing was well-judged for families. Equipment - We were provided with excellent snowsuits and boots which coped perfectly with temperatures down to -30 with thermals and a fleece or wool layer - cotton is not recommended. Also light fleece balaclavas, woollen socks and mittens. The kids' mittens were less good than the adult ones which came with thick wool liners. I was glad we brought our own glove liners. The ski goggles we brought were also very useful for protection from wind, snow and cold. In mid-Feb we experienced the full range of weather - light snow, sunshine and temperatures from -30 to +2! The Jeris Hotel lakeside spa was a bonus for a bit of downtime and we all enjoyed the saunas and jacuzzi. We were glad we brought our swimming costumes. Flip-flops would have been useful for moving between the buildings on snowy paths and venturing down to swim in the lake - really!

Read more control that. When we were able to let them run it was amazing - it was harder when you had to keep breaking because your dogs wanted to go faster than the ones in front! Also, seeing the northern lights on the last night - we had a really good show - can't control that either! A perfect ending to the holiday.
